When searching for chicken coop designs, especially if you are new to keeping chickens, www.horizonstructures.com is the perfect choice for outstanding variety and ease of shopping. We carry 8 different coop models that can accommodate just a few chickens to 30+.
A good chicken coop design should include several factors. The number of chickens a coop can house is important; however, the environment it will be set up in should be noted as well.
The location of the coop is key to choosing the correct siding. Pine board and batten and Duratemp wood siding are both long-lasting and durable. Most people chose one over the other based on the "look" they prefer. Duratemp wood siding comes painted which affords many color choices. The big advantage is that you can match the coop to your home or other buildings on your property. The pine board and batten comes with a clear stain which may weather or change color somewhat over time resulting in a more rustic appearance. In the long run, Duratemp may resist the effects of dampness and moisture slightly better than the pine and will probably be less maintenance.
The 4x6, our most popular chicken coop design, which weighs about 750lbs, is available with either the pine board and batten or Duratemp siding. Our second most popular chicken coop design - the Mini Coop - weighs about 450lbs and is available in pine tongue and groove or Duratemp siding. Regardless of which chicken coop design you prefer, there is virtually no limit to the number of paint/trim/siding/roof combinations. Remember, if you have a suggestion or a specific idea in mind just let us know. We do special orders, too!
Chicken coop designs must also take into account the size of your flock and how you'll be caring for them. How many chickens you can keep in the coop varies with the chicken coop design you're considering, the breed of chicken you have and how much time your birds will be spending in the coop. Our smallest coop will hold up to 8 birds while our larger coops can accommodate 30+. Obviously, with a smaller breed of chicken, those numbers can increase. Similarly, you may be able to keep more chickens if they have access to a wire run or are able to free-range rather than being kept inside the coop 24-7. Regardless of your situation, we guarantee your birds will thrive in any of our chicken coop designs if they are given ample time to forage outside the coop in the fresh air.
Don't waste your time with chicken coop designs that are impractical or complicated. At www.horizonstructures.com, our chicken coop designs are simple and functional. Our coops are shipped pre-assembled and ready for immediate use. Purchase price includes "curbside" delivery, meaning your coop is brought onto your property and unloaded in your driveway or yard (adjacent to your driveway). For an additional fee, we can place your coop in a specific location somewhere else on your property or buy our coop wheels and relocate your coop wherever and whenever you wish.
