Hi Cindy & Nicole -

The chicken coop arrived on Wednesday. The big, burly delivery guy was very nice and funny about the coop. He said "I get all the crazy, oversized deliveries..." After he (and my husband) got it off the truck and onto the ground, the delivery guy said "Hey, that's really cute!" and then had a look inside.

Today, we finally got the 6 Rhode Island Reds all set up in the coop with a small pen (from our mini coop) attached to the side with the chicken door. They figured out to go up the ramp at dusk. Even though they are only 8 weeks old, they explored the nest boxes and tried them out, each in her own box with the sixth chicken in and out of all of them. They looked really sweet all lined up as if waiting patiently for their first egg. They love the height inside the coop and flew all around for the first several hours. Now they are snuggled up together on the bench for the night.

My husband and I noticed the 1x1 wire on the outside of the windows. Thanks- that was a really good idea and you saved us the trouble. We have every predator imaginable here. The large, bright windows with plenty of natural lighting, excellent cross ventilation and easy (human) accessibility were the reason we chose this over the Boughton chicken ark, the Henspa and many others. The raised design was a really good idea that I appreciated more today that I thought I would. I love the fact that I don't have to bend down to care for them and I know they are secure at night. When we get the fencing up, the area under the coop will be a great place to get out of the rain and to take dust baths, I imagine. I love the black, lockable latches and nest box hook- you thought of every detail. The coop is very attractive and built like Fort Knox.

Anyway, thanks to both of you for all your help. We love the coop and so do the girls. I know you will continue to do well with it. I cannot even think of anything I would change about it.

Sincerely,

Jeanne from Wisconsin
