All our horses are fine, but our barn burned down on February 19th. We know how lucky we are that the horses were outside that night.

We are now in the process of interviewing horse barn builders and designing the barn. Any hints from those who have recently build barns? What are you happy you included? What would you have done differently if you had to do it over again?

Thanks so much for your insight!

Horizon Structures built our barn back in March and we could not be happier. They have our testimonial on their website along with a pic of the barn. I worked with Matt in the planning stages. He was such a big help. I'd tell him what I was thinking about and he'd put it down on paper for me....9 times out of 10 it was exactly what I had in mind! When our barn finally arrived, they guys that delivered it stayed and tweaked a couple of thing inside the barn and did not leave until everything was to my liking. They are an amazing company and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a structure.

I am glad I made the barn bigger than I had planned and glad that I added room enough for a feed/storange area. We had thought about doing the stalls ourselves and am glad we let Horizon do them as well. Everything is so professionally done from start to finish and all I had to do was bring the horses in. (Can you tell we love our barn?) Everyone hangs out in it...even the dogs!!

I have had a pole barn with an Isle for cross tying and a barn on a foundation. Both were great but the pole barn was cooler most of the time. Maybe due to more airy due to big isle. I am currently using an Amish built 4 stall barn. I am exposed to the elements as are the horses heads. I dont care for this type of barn. I trully like the isle.
