Any natural remedies to keep predators away from our chicken run/pen and coop?
We have made a 10'x10'run with 4"x4" posts 7' high @ the corners sunk into the ground 12" and grouted w/concrete.
We nailed 10'long wood 2x6 to the posts to form a perimeter at ground level, and attached 5'high chicken wire on all sides to form the pen.
What do we need over the top, and embedded in the ground to stop predators from digging? Will cherry tree netting be enough?
What age can chicks free range with our supervision?

Cherry netting will not keep a determined predator away from chickens. I've read that if you place your chicken wire into the ground about 12 inches angled away from the coop, that will keep the predators from entering by digging.

We put wire across the top and hooked it to the sides of ours to keep them from getting in above. It seems to work so far.

I lined the inside of my coop at the bottom with wood to make it more difficult to get into.

Or alternately, you can bury the wire straight down and out. So bend in an L shape instead of angling it out straight.

This is also good for gardens to prevent bunnies from getting at your veggies!
