Wish me luck everyone. Tomorrow Pete and I will be participating in a small, local Fourth of July parade. He'll be decked out in red, white and blue in true draft horse style. I'm a little nervous but I'm pretty sure he'll be OK. Hopefully, you won't be reading about us the the newspaper - "Horse Tramples Parade Goers."

Has anyone else out there ever rode or driven their horse in a parade? How did it go?

I'll post a link to pictures as soon as I can!

Wishing a safe and happy 4th to everyone

How did it go?
Great I hope!
I have often thought about it, but I have not done it yet!

Basically, the parade was too overwhelming for Pete so we did not go through with it. My daughter and I worked hard Friday morning to get him ready to go and I think he was in a good frame of mind about it.

We got the the parade staging area in plenty of time so there was no rushing around and he was able to take everything in. I think he liked all the attention and getting his mane and tail braided. He looked soooooo handsome!!! He was as good as gold the whole time we were getting ready and standing in line waiting for the parade to start. I believe he was looking forward to it.

I felt that trouble was starting as we got near the downtown area for the start of the parade. I felt that things were not going to go well when I saw him looking at this very large orange metal "scaffolding" (for lack of a better word...)

Shortly after we passed that we had to pass by the side of a factory (think high solid brick wall). My friends and I agreed later that the brick wall and the appearance of a wall of people (parade goers), a mail truck in front of us, a car behind us, etc., etc., etc., was probably just too much.

Pete did his best but I feel that he was very scared. He was trembling all over and really did not want to go forward. So, we made the decision not to go any farther. We turned around right there and headed back to the trailer. He was still a little jumpy and nervous but I felt that he was relieved to be heading back and he was a VERY GOOD boy all the way back to the truck.

We later confirmed that it was good that we did not try to push it. The mail truck in front of us was throwing candy and children were darting out from both sides to get it. I'm sure that would have been disconcerting to him not to mention all the other strange new things he would have encountered along the parade route.

On the bright side, it was a beautiful day - perfect temperature and low humidity - very pleasant. And, I think it was a good experience for everyone. I told Pete I knew he did his best and that I was very proud of him!

Awh that's great, good boy Pete!
That sounds like a lot of strange, scary stimulation for a horse to handle! I was feeling for him as I read your description.

Sounds like he did a great job and I think you made the right decision!

Review of TaylorMade Irons

The long irons are specifically forgiving combined with for those of us who need that extra forgiveness however want extra control than the average game improvement set such as the titleist 2010 ap2 irons they are a reliable choice. ishiner
