Buying a Barn? Stay on Schedule.

Buying a horse barn isn’t something you do every day. Most likely, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime purchase. There are so many details in building a horse barn just thinking about them can be overwhelming. However, breaking your barn project into smaller pieces makes the process much more manageable and less intimidating.

Our experience shows that if you’re able to follow these steps and stay on track you’ll have your barn set up and ready to go in no time at all.

The time line below is an example that can work if you buy a one-horse run-in shed to a big 12-stall modular barn or indoor riding arena

All barn building plans are unique. For a smaller 2 or 3 stall shed row horse barn or a simple run-in shed, some of these steps won’t be necessary. And, the whole process could be completed in three or four weeks instead of six. For a big horse barn or an indoor riding arena, six weeks may be only a fraction of the time required.

Regardless, taking a look at the steps for building a horse barn is sure to help anyone move through the process more easily.

The schedule above is intended as an example only.

Not all municipalities will require stamped architectural drawings.

Length of time for permit approval will vary per location of property.
