Any Horizon Structures storage shed can be upgraded
into a one car garage. All the same color,
siding
and roofing
choices and options apply.
How you plan to use your garage and the type of vehicle
storage you have in mind will determine the upgrades
you want to consider.
Let’s start at the bottom and work our
way up…
|
Flooring
All Horizon Structures sheds include a 5/8” plywood
floor with 2x4 floor joists spaced 16” on center.
If you’re using your garage as a workshop or to
store tools & equipment, a lawn tractor, motorcycles,
snowmobiles, jet skis – most anything other than
a car or truck – our standard wood floor is perfectly
adequate. Simply prepare
your base as you would for any shed.
If you plan on parking a
car or truck inside, we recommend you have us upgrade
the floor joists to 2x4s spaced 12” on center.
This simple, inexpensive upgrade will allow your wooden
floor to easily accommodate the extra weight of a larger
vehicle. For even more strength and weight bearing capacity,
choose the double plywood option at only $1 per square
foot.
If your garage will be situated in a damp location,
or simply for added longevity, we can also upgrade your
floor and/or floor joists to pressure-treated lumber.
Pressure Treated Floor Joists:
Add $ .20 / square foot.
Pressure Treated Joists & Plywood Floor:
Add $ 1.00 / square foot.

Doors
All Horizon Structures sheds come, standard, with a
double-hinged wooden door. You can determine the placement
to best suit your needs; however, for a garage, most
folks have us move it to the gable end.
As a general rule of thumb, the size of the door opening
is ½ the size of the width of the shed.
The doors can be made 12” or 24” wider and
up to 7’ high provided the size of the shed and
the desired door placement will structurally accommodate
it

 Overhead
Doors
Hinged doors may be just right for your garage; however,
most people want to have an overhead door.
As with everything else at Horizon Structures, you
have several choices when upgrading to an overhead,
roll-up door.
Any of our overhead doors can be fitted with an electric
garage door opener. |

Side
Entry Doors
For ease and convenience, most folks add a side entry
door to avoid having to use the overhead door just
to go in and out of the garage.
As with everything else, you have a number of options
to choose from.
ALL our doors come with a lock and key to keep your
belongings safe and secure.
