Sauna FAQ
Exterior
- Does a glass front make the sauna hotter?
Not significantly. Our floor‑to‑ceiling glass fronts are tempered for safety and insulated to maintain heat. The glass floods the interior with natural light and provides panoramic views without drastically affecting heating efficiency. Combined with robust insulation and a high‑performance heater, the sauna warms quickly and retains temperature.
- Which wood is best for sauna construction?
Western red cedar is the gold standard for sauna interiors. Cedar’s natural oils resist rot, insects and decay while providing excellent insulation and a soothing aroma. All of our saunas use Western red cedar for walls, ceilings and benches.
- Do I need windows or vents?
Every sauna needs at least one vent for fresh air circulation and moisture management. Windows and glass fronts are optional but add natural light and a modern aesthetic. Our saunas come with vents, and you can choose from models with glass doors, full glass fronts or additional windows.
- Can I customize the design?
Absolutely! Choose from a range of options to tailor your sauna. Available upgrades include:
Under‑bench LED lighting for ambient illumination.
Ceiling light with switch for overhead lighting control.
Wi‑Fi enabled heater controls for remote operation.
Set of three towel hooks for convenient storage.
Additional windows or glass panels to bring in more light.
Custom sizes, porch overhangs and interior layouts are also available. Contact us to discuss your vision.
Heating & Operation
- What type of heater is best?
For most homeowners, an electric heater offers convenience and consistent heat. Our saunas include a high‑performance HUUM Drop electric heater requiring a 220–240 V circuit. Wood‑fired heaters provide a traditional experience but require a chimney and regular wood supply.
- How long does it take to heat up?
A well‑insulated sauna typically reaches 175–190 °F (80–90 °C) in 45 minutes. Start with shorter sessions if you’re new to saunas, and always preheat before use.
- How hot should a sauna be?
Traditional saunas operate between 175 and 190 °F (80–90 °C). Beginners may prefer lower temperatures around 150 °F and shorter sessions of 10–15 minutes, gradually increasing as they acclimate. Always listen to your body and consult your physician if you have medical conditions.
- How often should I use my sauna?
For general wellness, aim for two to four sessions per week, allowing recovery time between. Research shows that using a sauna for 15 minutes after exercise three times per week can significantly improve blood pressure and cardiovascular health compared to exercise alone. Frequent users (four to seven sessions per week) may experience lower rates of heart disease and stroke
Delivery & Installation
- Do your saunas come fully assembled?
Yes. Our saunas are delivered fully assembled and ready to use. Simply prepare a level base and have a licensed electrician connect the power. No on‑site construction or complicated kit assembly is required.
- What site preparation do I need?
A stable, level surface such as a concrete pad, patio pavers or compacted gravel is ideal. Ensure there is sufficient clearance around the sauna for delivery and ventilation. For safety, place the sauna on a non‑combustible surface.
- Do you deliver nationwide?
We deliver anywhere within the Continental United States. Delivery to remote areas may incur additional fees; please contact us for details.
- What are the electrical requirements?
Our electric saunas require a dedicated 220–240 V circuit. A licensed electrician should handle all electrical connections.
