Hay Feeder FAQ

We ship our hay feeders anywhere within the Continental United States.

Horizon’s 2 smaller feeders (HAY4832G24 & HAY832G24) ship as pre-built units.
Our 3 large models (HAY45, HAY606H & HAY608SF-2) are shipped in kit form.

Assembly time is estimated at approximately an hour.

Absolutely. Our feeders are constructed from weather-resistant steel and finished to withstand seasonal elements.

The built-to-last plastic roof on model HAY45 is made of the same durable material used in children’s playhouses and designed to withstand all kinds of weather.

The main difference is that horse hay feeders are designed for horse safety and health, while cattle feeders prioritize durability and a design that suits cattle’s feeding habits.

Horse feeders are more likely to have a roof to keep hay dry and a design that prevents horses from getting their manes, feet, or blanket clips caught. They may also feature slow-feed nets as well as a design that keeps hay elevated and off the ground.

Cattle feeders are built with a lower profile and a deeper base to keep hay contained. This makes them better suited for cows that eat coarser forage rather than the finer hay preferred by horses.

Yes. Studies show up to 30–35% reduction in hay waste when covered feeders are used, keeping hay clean, dry, and off the ground.
